La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Walker - Denham Springs

The breakfast was fine, though it could be better. There were eggs, sausage patties, waffles to make yourself, apples, oatmeal packets, and yogurt in a fridge. It wasn’t the old Shoney’s Breakfast Bar, but my three year old granddaughter thought it was the best thing ever. The building is smoke free. I didn’t see anyone smoking, and our room didn’t smell of smoke. Everything was clean, and all the staff were friendly.

The location is handy, right off rt 12, with two restaurants and a gas station/convenience store a short walk away and more just a short drive. The room was clean, the air conditioner worked great, and we had soft, comfortable beds, plenty to watch on TV, and hot water in the shower. We were welcomed with a big smile, and check in was easy. Definitely good value, and I’d recommend trying this hotel.

The hotel still looks nice and is in a good location, but this stay was a letdown. We used to stay here when it was under Choice Hotels and always had a great experience. The bed cover smelled like sweat and the desk surface was dirty. Breakfast had far less than before, so I left without eating. There were no muffins, bagels, yogurt, or hot water for oatmeal, all things they used to have. The sausage and eggs didn’t look fresh or edible.

There was a big blue spot on the bathroom hand towel, and it smelled like AFTERSHAVE. Nobody in our room wears AFTERSHAVE!!! People were talking really loudly in the hallway at 3:00 AM. We went down early for breakfast at 6:30, but it was underwhelming. The eggs and sausages were cold, and the garbage can by the coffee area was overflowing with the counter dirty. At least the coffee was good and hot!
