Travelodge by Wyndham Grand Rapids North

During this visit, a woman let herself into my room with a key card and kicked me out, with no refund, because of police activity involving someone else. I was very unhappy with this stay, and the previous visit was bad too. There were at least six cockroaches all over the room, along with a roach trap beside the fridge. Staff clearly knew about the problem and didn’t tell me before I stayed. They said they’d give me a “discount” next time, but the trap made it obvious they already knew.

The AC didn’t work, and there was no way to switch rooms. They also don’t have a public jacuzzi, despite the impression you might get, unless you book a room that has one. I’d give this place zero stars if I could. Avoid it like the plague.

My room was very clean, and everyone on staff was kind and helpful. Michelle went especially far to make things work for me and my pets. I can’t say enough good about the stay, and I’ll definitely return.

The weekly rate is a great deal, and you can walk to everything you need. My recent stay felt like a breath of fresh air, so maybe I’d been too hard on the place before. The rooms were welcoming, with soft blankets, nice pillows, and a comfortable bed. I came in drenched from the heavy rain, carrying my tent in one hand and a soggy Papa John’s pizza box in the other. The woman at the desk handled my reservation quickly, and I was in my room within minutes, safe from the downpour and settling in before work the next morning. I drifted off among the blankets and pillows, then suddenly my alarm was going off. The staff are sweet and welcoming, and this is an affordable place to crash after work. The new manager seems to be helping things improve. In my opinion, it’s more than a two-star hotel. I’d definitely come back. I’ve been impressed with how things have been shaping up lately. Really nice.
