Wallace Inn

The Wallace Inn was quiet and relaxing, which made it easy to sleep well and nap during the day. My room was clean and well kept, and the staff made me feel welcome as soon as I arrived. They seem to take good care of both the property and their service. I had a great stay and would definitely come back. I'd recommend it to anyone visiting Wallace, Idaho.

Our room was spacious, but the bed wasn't comfortable. The location was decent, an easy enough walk into town, though some places are more convenient. There are two floors and no elevator, so carrying a lot upstairs is a problem. It was slow when we visited, and I don't understand why they put us on the second floor. The front desk woman wasn't very friendly when we checked in, and I would have asked to switch floors. The pool and hot tub were great, and the lounge area was beautiful. But the hotel advertises a pool, hot tub, sauna, and steam room, and only two of those four were usable. The sauna never worked. The steam room ran for a few minutes one day, then got so hot that my husband and I thought our skin would literally burn. It was out of order the next day, too. Other guests we spoke with said neither had worked on the days before that. I wish I could rave about this place, but I can't. I wouldn't go out of my way to recommend it. It's not bad if you happen to stay here, though.

For around $300, I expected a decent room, but it was dirty and nothing seemed to work properly. The hot tub didn't work, the bathroom sink was filthy and clogged, and stuff came out of it. The toilet wouldn't flush all the way. The bed was uncomfortable, and the sheets smelled like smoke. At 9 pm I was thirsty, but the vending machine only took cash and only accepted 1, 2, and 5 bills. None of my nearly new bills worked. With nobody around to help, I had to go to a gas station. The front desk woman didn't seem to want to be there.

The staff were wonderful and worked around our schedule, and the outside property was well maintained with easy highway access. We didn't try the on-site restaurant, but the hotel itself is an older place in very good shape. The front desk rep greeted us brightly, and there was a warm fireplace and a clean, spacious lobby. Our large single queen room had a sofa, desk, fridge, and coffee maker. The bathroom was huge, and the shower was hot and powerful, one of the best I've had in a hotel in a long time. The room was clean, though the bathroom floor could use a good scrub. The pool area was clean, with a warm pool, dry sauna, steam sauna, and hot tub. Highly recommend this hotel!
