Holiday Inn Express Waller

We found two used syringes under the mattress in our room, one of them filled. We told staff immediately and emailed management, but nobody responded. We were told someone would call, yet days passed without any acknowledgment, apology, or follow-up. The shower in our second room didn't work, and there was visible black mold on the lampshades and A/C units. We were in a remote area with few hotel choices, otherwise we would've left right away. I've filed a complaint with the Health Department and escalated the matter to corporate. This neglect and lack of accountability are unacceptable.

The shower never got properly warm, hovering somewhere between glacier melt and lukewarm, and by morning my back felt like I'd wrestled a brick wall. The mattress was so hard it could pass for a parking lot, and the shower seemed to be taunting me. My irritation was the only thing that got hot. If every hotel, motel, and cardboard box nearby were booked, maybe I'd stay again. Otherwise, no.

I planned to stay for one night, but the owner was very flexible when I needed to extend at the last minute. The beds were fairly comfortable, and the bathroom and rooms were clean and maintained. Breakfast was included, as was free Wi-Fi. I'd definitely stay again.

A dead rat in our room made the smell horrible. We asked to move, but the hotel was fully booked, so we had to find somewhere else. And unbelievably, they didn't refund the reservation. Be careful if you book here. Do your best to stay somewhere else.
