Courtyard New Haven Wallingford

There’s a big market downstairs with lots of snack choices, and breakfast in the lobby was SO GOOD. It came out quickly, was filling and delicious, and the coffee was perfect. I’d absolutely recommend the lobby restaurant. The room was very clean and had everything we needed except hand lotion. We were there in the dead of winter, so I really could’ve used some. The mattress and pillows were amazingly comfortable. The layout was a little odd: lying in bed meant watching TV sideways.

The room was spacious and pretty comfortable, the shower was nice, and all the appliances worked like a charm. The atmosphere felt cozy and inviting even though we arrived during a snowstorm. The front desk employee was understanding about the weather, and the staff seemed friendly and flexible. Parking was easy to find. The quoted room price wasn’t the full amount, since taxes and other fees weren’t included, which I hadn’t understood. Also, the room door was hard to open, and the comforter and blankets were really itchy.

Will took a lot of time to make sure I felt safe and comfortable. He was kind, hospitable, and very honest, and I felt I could trust his guidance. Marriott should promote him. He’s a valuable part of the company.

There’s very little to do here, especially for children. We had to stay because of a wedding block, and the hotel was expecting a large group, yet the café was closed, laundry was out of service, and there were no cots. For the money, you get a basic warm, dry place to sleep, but the price didn’t match the limited amenities. I’ve stayed at hotels this year with much better service for less. My favorite part was finding the lone $5 bottle of water left on the guest-room desk for my children to open before I noticed it. The staff and management were accommodating and understanding, but I think corporate needs to reconsider what guests pay compared with what’s offered.
