Fairfield by Marriott Inn & Suites Wallingford New Haven

We got ten inches of snow the night before leaving, and the plow was out all night so people could come and go safely. The staff were so nice, every single day, and even brought us a couple of hot egg sandwiches when we checked out before the kitchen had opened. We hadn’t asked. The room was spotless. Things were smaller than usual, but more efficient. The beds and pillows were supreme, and I’m picky! We had a wonderful stay over Christmas, from the first day to the last. I’ve never had service this good, and I’m no young'un. We’ll definitely be back.

For the price, most things are fine, but breakfast was a mess. The bananas were expired, the coffee tasted like dirty water with vinegar, and the labels didn’t match what was in the pots. The scrambled eggs seemed artificial, oily, and full of curds. I wouldn’t feed those sausages to my kids or my dogs. They could make the buffet better by offering half as many items, using better products from the same vendor, and serving decent coffee, properly cooked eggs, a decent potato or sausage, and wholesome fruit. The attendant also needs a proper work uniform.

The room looked clean, but underneath the bed was dirty. The front desk staff, especially, were rude and made us feel like we were staying for free. We weren’t comfortable there, and this service level is overpriced. I wouldn’t recommend the hotel.

The rooms were clean and updated, with what you need, including a microwave and refrigerator. Staff were really nice and easy to deal with. There’s a good selection at the inside bar and plenty of seating, plus an outdoor spot for cigar smoking. It worked well for hanging out socially after an event. I mean, we’re all in the Hilton Marriott Holiday Hyatt blah blah.
