Hilton Garden Inn Wallingford/Meriden

The hallway smelled amazing, and the room was clean and quiet. At first I thought a woman wearing great perfume had passed through just before me, then figured it must be a cleaner or air freshener. I’m not sure which, but it was wonderful. HGI will be my preferred hotel in the area.

Check-in and check-out were easy to do online, without going to the desk. The hotel was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the room had plenty of amenities. The nightly rate was reasonable, and it worked perfectly for our trips back and forth to a friend’s wedding. There was a pool that looked nice, though we didn’t have time to use it.

I drove from Florida straight to Meriden in just under 19 hours with my two almost 17-year-old Chihuahuas. I grew up in Wallingford and have tried nearly every hotel in the area on past visits. I worked at the Hyatt at Coconut Point in Estero FL, so I know hotels, and I’m really glad I chose the Hilton Garden this time. It’s right off 91 North on route 68, handy for the immediate area and central to CT. The hotel is open, beautiful, and welcoming, with a gas fireplace where you can warm up and talk with family and friends. There’s a restaurant on site with delicious food, though it wasn’t open while I was there for Christmas. Outside, there’s a large, lovely area with plenty of chairs and fire pits. Candace and Charlotte greeted me promptly and checked me in quickly and efficiently. Everyone went out of their way to accommodate me and my dogs. My room was clean, the shower was hot, and the water pressure was strong. I’d been debating spending less at another hotel, but I’m glad I didn’t. I loved the place and its warm, welcoming staff. If you’re on the fence, spend a little more and enjoy a world-class hotel in rural Wallingford CT. Thanks again to Candace, Charlotte, Efrain, Shareen, and Wafa. You guys are Rock stars! We’d booked a horrible hotel first, then had a hard time finding somewhere else at midnight. This place was our saving grace. The woman at the desk was so helpful and nice, and turned a rough night around.
