Super 8 by Wyndham Walnut Creek

This place has changed a lot in a year. The room was dirty, with walls covered in things that had been thrown or splashed on them. While I waited for a plunger because the toilet was broken, a cockroach crawled across the office floor. The toilet was literally broken: the handle fell apart and the seat was nearly off. There were burn marks all over the bathtub, along with some questionable residue. Do not recommend.

The location seemed very accessible, and the front desk agent was incredibly nice every time I dealt with them. But I ended up finding another hotel. My first room smelled strongly of cigarette smoke, and the second smelled the same. Both had leaking tubs, with standing water in one; the other had a damaged grate on the air conditioning unit. Other guests were outside with their doors open, smoking and playing rather loud music. That's not the hotel's fault, but it added to the trouble.

Avinash made my stay comfortable and hassle-free. He was welcoming and helpful, and clearly takes pride in his work. That kind of care isn't something you get every day, especially at a budget-friendly place. The motel is older and shows its age, but the front desk service made the experience much better. If you want a no-frills stay with great customer service, this spot is worth considering.

We booked at Super 8 by Wyndham on 10/17/2025 because the website specifically says it's a 100% no-smoking facility. We expected a room without a smoke smell, but it smelled horrible. When I asked for another room that didn't stink of smoke, they gave us one that smelled less. I asked for a refund, but they said they couldn't return my money. We ended up staying. By about 3 a.m. I couldn't stand the smell, but we couldn't find another hotel at that hour, and my two children were asleep. We paid $117.00, and it wasn't worth it. We would've been better off staying in our vehicle. Why advertise a 100% non-smoking place when it stinks so much? They should advertise it as a smoking zone. I reported them to the BBB and hope they get shut down. Definitely don't recommend this place. Don't waste your money, it was horrible.
