DoubleTree Suites by Hilton Orlando - Disney Springs® Area

We had a king suite with a small fridge, sink and a handy little table. It’s a decent setup for a longer stay if you want to keep snacks and drinks around instead of paying resort prices. The room was fine, and the hotel was clean, if a bit dated. Our AC and heat stopped working, but they fixed it within an hour. There’s a pool, tennis courts and a small gym, though it didn’t feel much like a resort to us. More like a convenient hotel on Disney property, close to the highway and near the edge of it. Buses to the Disney attractions came frequently, which is useful if that’s why you’re here. It’s also near MCO, probably the first on-property hotel you reach. Food choices on site are limited to a small bar, lobby restaurant and snack cafe. They were all okay, and there are more restaurants, a Starbucks and places like Walgreens about a mile away. For us, it came out to 5.5 out of 10.

The rooms were clean, comfortable and really quiet, which I appreciated. I was pleasantly surprised by how good the hotel and staff were, especially for a reasonably priced place so close to the action. The breakfast buffet was fully stocked, like the kind we used to get before COVID, with lots of hot, fresh choices. It was a lovely way to start the day, and our waitress was great. Hunter also helped me figure out where I could work on my laptop during a few daytime meetings. Everyone at the front desk was amazing.

I wouldn’t recommend staying here. The pictures look nice, but our room wasn’t clean when we arrived. I wiped down the counters and found debris, and there was hair on the toilet, plus white fuzz on the carpet. It was especially frustrating because at check-in we were told the room wasn’t ready yet. The windows weren’t clear when looking out, and water leaked from the shower. We should have stayed on property or at a real Hilton property.

The only real problem for us was the hot tub being out of service. We also had some overzealous timeshare salespeople roaming the lobby, but otherwise we were very happy. There’s a good breakfast with plenty of choices, including make-your-own Mickey Waffles, and the pool was great. The hotel is close to the highway, so getting an Uber to Universal was easy and took about 20 minutes. Staff were helpful and sorted out every issue, plus there were free cookies. The rooms were large, clean and well maintained, with enough space for our family of five. The fridge and sink came in handy. We could walk about 15 minutes to Disney Springs or to 711 and other restaurants along shady, tree-lined pavement. The hotel’s Disney buses were great, less busy than the free Disney ones, and easy to book with a QR code. We also got early park entry. It was our first stay here, and it made a great base for a theme park trip.
