Holiday Inn Exp Walterboro by IHG

Mary was especially helpful and friendly, and the hotel staff were amazing. The breakfast buffet was very good and the beds comfy. The one-night price was a shock at $289, even as an IHG member, and I couldn't use my points. But we'd been on the road 16 hours, and I didn't think to ask the price. I just needed seven hours of sleep before heading back out.

There was plenty of space and everything was handy, with a helpful, informative clerk. I really liked that self-serve machines had fresh-ground coffee available around the clock, and they even had board games set out. Every staff member we met was welcoming and courteous. The beds were comfortable, actually very comfortable.

SANDY from the hotel association was so friendly and helpful with my family at breakfast. We arrived just as breakfast was ending, but she didn't rush us and brought out fresh food. We really appreciated that. The selection was surprisingly good, with hot options like pancakes, bacon, turkey sausage, and eggs, plus pastries and drinks including coffee, hot chocolate, and juice. We stopped during a late-night, early-morning drive back to Florida. Check-in went smoothly with a friendly front desk clerk. The room was cozy and as expected, mostly clean except for a few spots in the bathroom, and the water was HOT! I'd recommend the hotel and come back.

On earlier visits, this place has always covered what we needed, but this stay was different. They no longer put out cream with the coffee. They blamed the parent company, though I suspect local management since I haven't run into this elsewhere. Instead, there were pumps with Carnation concentrate, which I think is fake junk. I bought milk at a local market. I love my morning coffee, so it got my day off to a bad start. At $200 a night, that's JUST WRONG.
