Hotel Walterboro Southwest

The place was dirty and dated, with stains throughout the room and an uncomfortable bed. My dorm bed was better. The Wi-Fi didn't work in rooms on the hotel's left side. They advertise checkout at 11 a.m., but a sign on the door said 10 a.m. The older woman at the desk was very nice, though a sign also said they'd be back in 30 minutes, which made me think they didn't have many workers. There was no information about the area and no do not disturb sign. I didn't find bed bugs, but worried that the lack of cleanliness could lead to them, and looked for another hotel. I attached pictures from my stay this week.

The second room they gave me had lots of roaches. I asked to leave and get a refund, but the clerk said, "No Refunds." The first room had people in it, and the third was disgusting, with sticky carpet, no towels, and bugs. I had bites all over my arms and ate my meals in my truck. Every negative review is true. Do yourself a favor and keep driving.

The front desk is shut from midnight until noon, so there was no continental breakfast despite it being advertised. There was also no way to ask for extra towels or report an issue, like the refrigerator not working. The room itself was clean and warm, and if all you need is a clean bed and a roof for one night, it's decent value. Still, I was charged 15% more than the advertised price. There was just one small creamer packet for a whole pot of coffee.

The woman at the front desk was nice, and the internet worked fine in room 123. Having a fridge was a plus, though it was switched off when we got there. The place looks old and worn: wallpaper peeling, a towel rack coming off the wall, and a CRT TV. Best surprise was the ceiling. Someone had painted stars and planets with glow-in-the-dark paint, so they disappeared when the lights were on. Really charming.
