Courtyard Detroit Warren

Ashley at the front desk made a stressful, late-night arrival feel safe and welcoming. After another Marriott property refused my stay, I called Courtyard by Marriott Detroit Warren close to midnight. Ashley was kind, professional, and reassuring. She held a room for me, got me checked in quickly, and made sure I was okay. The lobby was clean and the room was comfortable. After a long drive, her genuine hospitality made all the difference. This is how a Marriott should treat guests. I highly recommend the hotel for reliable, caring, efficient service, even late at night.

I won’t stay here again or recommend it to any of my colleagues who travel for work. This is a much older hotel, and the elevator doesn’t work. Even after I asked every day for the room to be refreshed, it wasn’t done. I’d already told them it was poorly cleaned from the start. Very disappointed in the quality and service.

I’m here for six months for work, and I’m frustrated and exhausted enough to consider looking for somewhere else. The front desk did call to ask if I was happy with the new room. I told her about the debris on the floor and the mark on the mini fridge, which shows when the shades are open for natural light. She said housekeeping would come and address it. The first suite had visible dirt and stains on the sofa and ottoman. They happily moved me to a suite at the other end of the hall, but that furniture still had light stains, and there were bits of debris on the floor. The fridge had something slashed on it.

The hotel is tucked into a parking lot with limited parking, which made getting in less convenient. The rooms felt dated compared with other Courtyard locations I’ve stayed at. I’d completed mobile check-in but still had to stop at the desk and check in again. Even with status, I wasn’t offered complimentary water as I’ve consistently been at other Marriott properties. The room’s only water cost $6 a bottle, or $9 if refrigerated, which felt excessive. There was no complimentary breakfast either. The available breakfast was around $15 and felt more like an upsell than a good value. The whole experience gave me the impression of frequent add-on charges instead of guest-focused hospitality.
