Comfort Inn Warren

I was late to my morning appointment because the wake-up call I arranged never came. I went to the front desk and asked for a 10:30 a.m. call. They assured me it was set up, but apparently even that simple request was too much. They should be embarrassed.

The employees are really kind, and the hot breakfast runs until 10 every morning, which is a good deal. I care about having eggs, and the waffles are always good. The place is a little rundown, though.

Choice customer service called a second time, confirmed how unpleasant the desk agent was, and helped me book a room at a Quality Inn down the street. They checked me in right away and recognized me as a Diamond member without me having to mention it. No early check-in fee. That felt like real hospitality. I never even made it into a room here. At 6:30 a.m. I politely asked to check in early and got a flat “no” before the woman even looked at the computer. She made a strange noise and said it was “Too early to check in,” with what seemed like fury. The front desk agent looked like she was high on something. That was my welcome. As a Choice Hotels employee and Diamond member, I know the early check-in policy. If a room is ready, I check guests in as a courtesy. If there’s a fee, charge it, but don’t leave people standing outside. Choice-branded properties should take note. If you can’t offer basic service or even check the computer, maybe hospitality isn’t the job for you. This was embarrassing.

This place is usually fine, but today, 9/26, around 7-8 a.m., my boyfriend and I called about a room. The woman was really aggressive with him for no reason. I called back to ask about prices, and I wasn’t upset or anything. She asked who I was and whether I was the person my boyfriend had been talking about. I said no to avoid an argument. When I called again to schedule, she sounded annoyed. Out of nowhere she told me the rules had changed and guests now had to be 21+, even though that had never been the rule and we’ve always stayed here. Hopefully a manager can help us sort this out.
