We drove up from Cincinnati with our two small children because my daughter wanted to see her dying dog. It was 9 at night, and after a difficult day, this interaction with Brandy at the front desk left us feeling unwelcome. I’d lost my wallet, so I called ahead to ask whether a photo of my ID would work. Brandy said no, which I understood was the policy. I hung up on her in frustration, but I did not cancel the reservation. When we arrived, I asked whether the booking could be put in my husband’s name. Brandy said she’d already told me she couldn’t rent to me without ID. I explained that my husband would be the guest on the reservation. She wouldn’t switch it, although she confirmed there were rooms available, and said she needed to make a phone call. My husband felt we weren’t welcome, so we left. I went back inside because I still wanted to understand why a call was needed to book an available room under my husband’s name. Brandy was on speakerphone with the general manager, who sounded annoyed and told her this should be the last call while she was helping the gentleman in front of her. When I asked for Brandy’s name and an explanation, the manager told her to “deescalate the situation” and “deescalate her.” I wasn’t yelling; I was speaking firmly. I tried to record the exchange, but my phone died. I told Brandy about my dog and wished her the night she deserved. Best Western should hire different front desk staff. My five-year-old son could do her job better. Please drive the extra 30 minutes to another hotel.

Zander was a friendly face to find at the front counter. We were having trouble with our reservation, and he handled it with patience and understanding. His service made a great impression for the business. Really well done!

Asking for a receipt apparently set off a huge blowup, and even requesting a replacement shower curtain was a problem because the one in our room didn’t reach the tub. The front desk woman acted like she was the only person ever right and seemed to hate dealing with guests. She should also make sure the white powder around her nose isn’t visible while she’s berating people. Customer service might be worth learning.

I left my trash outside for housekeeping while they were still on shift, and it was still there. I was confused about that, since I’ve never had to leave trash inside my room for staff to collect at other hotels. I usually clean and change the sheets myself on longer stays, trying to make things easier for housekeeping. An older white woman at the front desk with glasses woke me from a nap to question me about the trash. She said I’d ignored her, though I was opening the door. When I calmly tried to explain, she kept talking over me and repeating herself, then asked whether I saw any other trash cans in the hallway, as if I were a 14-year-old. I gave her the same attitude back, and suddenly that was the issue. Pretty trashy behavior. Learn proper hotel etiquette.

I stayed here twice in 2024 when I was 20 and was allowed to check in. This time I came a week before turning 21, and the same person at check-in said there was no way I could stay. They said it was against policy on my third visit, then charged a cancellation fee even though I didn’t choose to cancel. I’d driven 9.5 hours for a military-related event and had to find somewhere else. Some service.
