Headwaters Motel

I'm from Kansas City, and this is honestly one of my favorite places I've stayed. The personal way they treat people and the down-home accommodations stand out. It's the cheapest place I've seen, but they don't cut back on the services or quality. I'd recommend it to anyone heading to Warsaw Missouri, and my family and I will stay here next time we go back.

The one decent thing was how quiet it was. There were lots of bright lights, but the smell of cigarette smoke, body odor, and animal feces was so awful I couldn't breathe in the room and slept in my car. I've stayed in plenty of hotels, including bad ones, and this was the worst experience I've had. The room was very cheap, and you get what you pay for: no room service, no breakfast, nothing, just a crash pad. The shower and hot water heater didn't work, the bathroom door wouldn't lock, a rock was holding the bathroom window open, and the front window had no screen. The doors only locked if slammed shut. There were fleas in the carpet, the decor was ugly and looked yard-sale sourced, and my room seemed never to have been cleaned. I complained to the staff and they did nothing. At least I could breathe in my car.

We arrived expecting to rent a cabin for Memorial weekend, but found a room with torn-up blinds hanging down. The whole place looked like it hadn't been cleaned in years. When I asked for our money back, they charged us for one night because they'd held the room, even though it wasn't at all what they advertised. The people at head water were very rude, too. I wouldn't stay here for anything. Spend the extra money and stay at lake's inn.

We really didn't want to go home. The room felt like home, and was clean, safe, and secure. The beds were so comfortable I wish I had one like that at home. We stayed in part of the cabin, and while it was a little chilly and had a few cosmetic hiccups, that didn't take away from the lovely room, beautiful Missouri, or kind staff. Absolutely fantastic. We'd come back 10/10.
