DC Lofty

I've stayed here three or four times and found it homey, quiet, and peaceful each time. The rooms and bathrooms were always clean, and I met cool people on every visit. Dani carried my heavy suitcase upstairs without me asking, and he was helpful and friendly. Roger was nice and accommodating too. The staff were polite and worked hard to keep the hostel clean and pleasant. I'm visiting DC again in a couple of weeks and will definitely book with DC Lofty.

The value is hard to beat, and the staff are super friendly and helpful. It's a cool atmosphere, with good spots to lounge and watch TV. The old building has tons of character, they clean it meticulously every day, and there's a full kitchen open 24 hours. The bunk beds have memory foam mattresses. People who leave negative reviews probably aren't into hostel life. If you know, this is the spot. No complaints.

We stayed in a private room with twin beds and had access to a spacious shared bathroom and kitchen. The staff were super friendly, gave us a tour when we checked in, and the location was perfect for walking around or catching an Uber. There was even a taco place right next door that stayed open late. I was in town for a concert and needed somewhere near downtown. It was my first hostel stay, and I had a great time. If you want a safe, affordable, friendly place to sleep for a few nights, this is a good option. The photos were true to what I saw and experienced.

The shower was my one real issue. It took forever for hot water to arrive, and once the person ahead of me was in there for over half an hour, presumably waiting for it too. I nearly missed my conference presentation, so leave plenty of time to shower. I stayed four nights while presenting at a conference center nearby. As a grad student without $200 a night for the conference hotel, I found this hostel a clean, comfortable option in a lively, convenient neighborhood. The friendly staff and guests made a nice little community. My private room was tiny and monastic, but cheerful, colorful, and had a desk that worked well for getting things done. The staff let me leave my bags there on my last day while I waited for my flight. At $60 a night, it was excellent value, and I'd recommend it.
