Holiday Inn Washington-Georgetown

The room was dirty, including the sheets and bedding. They looked like they hadn’t been changed, and we could see hair and blood on the sheet. I think lice may have bitten my back and leg, and I have some red bumps. Breakfast wasn’t free. The front desk staff had a terrible attitude. I never want to stay at this hotel again.

The building feels old, and the renovations seem to be happening in small, cheap-looking pieces. Breakfast buffet food wasn’t very good, and it’s not easy to get to the metro. On the plus side, it’s clean, the staff are nice and helpful, and there are lots of interesting restaurants and boutiques within walking distance.

I arrived at 1 a.m. and the receptionist coldly told me it was after midnight and I needed to call reservations to get a room. I called, then went outside to get coffee because none was offered. When I came back with the confirmation number, she said their computer was down and I’d have to wait for it to come back before she could give me a room. She didn’t say how long that would take, then told me she would cancel my reservation. I wasn’t even allowed to stay in the lobby. I still don’t know whether my card was charged. Neither the hotel nor the reservation people seemed to care. It was one of the worst experiences I’ve had. The price was high, the service far below average, and I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.

The hotel was clean and nice, and I’d stay again. The staff were a mixed bag, some were pleasant and some seemed to be having a bad day. Parking is around $30 a day, though I guess the whole area is expensive. I hadn’t realized breakfast wasn’t included. It’s a continental hot breakfast buffet, but it costs nearly $18.
