Loftstel could be a great place, but poor management and intrusive staff made it unpleasant. Other interns warned each other to “keep your head down.” I knew I’d landed in the wrong place. The facilities don’t match what’s claimed. The advertised study room is reserved for staff, laundry isn’t free as the website says, and washing and drying cost $4 per load. The internet barely works, if it’s there at all. Staff, especially management, are rude and lack basic hospitality and customer service skills. The price isn’t what it appears to be either. Expect ridiculous fees to show up after booking. Even a cup of water or juice by your bedside costs $10. Avoid Loftsel for a DC stay.

It was gross throughout. An older man living there sometimes peed on the bathroom floor, and they only cleaned it once a week. You’d also wait forever for the bathroom. There were eight people sleeping in one tiny room, with hardly any room for belongings or food in the fridge. It was basically all beds. Everyone snored, so it was hard to sleep. Worst experience ever, way too crowded and cramped.

The price was good, it’s close to the metro, and the neighborhood wasn’t bad. But the WiFi is awful, and the fridge can’t fit all the guests’ food.
