The Hay-Adams

Service was great, and the hotel was comfortable and well located. Our room looked out over Lafayette Park, The White House, and Washington Monument. The bathroom was a bit small compared with what we expected. Renovations were happening on all the fountains throughout the Park, and the East Wing had been demolished, with cranes on site and construction of the new ballroom underway. Still, we enjoyed staying at the Hay-Adams.

The rooms cost a little more, but our stay felt worth almost every penny. We’d never stayed anywhere quite like this, and it was fancy in a way that made it a great couples retreat. There weren’t any kids around. Turn-down service was new to us, and we loved what they did. Our bellhop was phenomenal, a bit older and incredibly knowledgeable. He remembered our names and took us on a private tour to the 9th floor, where we got a spectacular nighttime view of the White House. Get a package deal if you can, since it covers a lot and means you don’t have to worry as much. We had a great experience at this amazing hotel.

The rooms were comfortable, clean, and charming, and the hotel gives you an authentic DC stay. It’s in a lovely spot across from the White House. What really made it special was the staff: friendly, professional, and attentive to every detail. The location makes it easy to get to the mall and train station, and from there get around. I’d definitely stay here again. Service was great, with helpful staff who gave us the personal attention we needed. The bar is a nice place to hang out, and the ground-floor restaurant does a good breakfast. The gym is small, but the equipment is well maintained and it has pretty much what you need.
