The Poppy Georgetown

We enjoyed catching up with my brother and his wife over drinks in the lobby, then having breakfast there the next morning. Though the Poppy is a small hotel, it has a useful shared area for spending time together. The accommodations suited us well, and the staff and proprietors were helpful and agreeable. It’s an easy walk to Embassy Row, also known as Massachusetts Avenue, and to Dumbarton Oaks, one of Washington’s hidden gems. We’d be glad to stay at the Poppy again.

I especially appreciated a gentleman on the staff who was so kind and helpful, and made my visit even better with his friendly, professional manner. The hotel was warm and welcoming from the moment I arrived. Everything was clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully set up, with lots of delicious treats offered during my stay. I had a lovely time here and would happily return. Highly recommend!

We spent four nights here, and I’d happily choose it again. The hotel is small, with the feel of a quaint B&B. Our room was practical and classy, a step above the usual hotel room, but the shared spaces were the real highlight. The front patio was a great breakfast spot, while the back patio and gardens were lovely for winding down in the evening. Even the lobby and kitchen area felt cute and homey. The design and decor are spot on, and they haven’t come at the expense of practicality. I’d especially recommend it for couples or groups of friends.

I felt at home as soon as I arrived. The charm, decor, location, comfort, service, affordability, and general vibe were all 10/10. It’s a boutique hotel with B&B feel in Georgetown, tucked away from the usual path. I travel a lot for work in the travel industry, and this is easily one of the best hotels I’ve visited. Can’t wait to come back soon.
