Best Western Rose Garden Inn

I stayed Saturday night, 12/13/25, in room 205 as part of a party of two. I’d come back many times over the years because the place used to be nice, well kept, and convenient, but it’s declined enough that I won’t return. The first room smelled moldy, and the second had a constant motor noise from some machine outside the room. Cars on the street were loud, too. It’s time to spend some money on maintenance.

There wasn’t really a good place for the dogs to potty. The so-called pet area is a tiny strip hidden behind the hotel, with no grass, just a piece of plastic over a mound of dirt. My dog ended up using the small planter areas. If a hotel welcomes pets, it should have a suitable place for them. We had a pet friendly kitchenette room. It was clean, the bed was comfy, and the staff were very friendly. This is a smaller hotel with remodeled rooms, and breakfast had nice offerings. I’d suggest mounting the TV on the wall and getting rid of the old little dresser.

A nightmare, especially if you get a ground floor room. The rooms are really outdated, with dirty carpet and a smell, and it has a motel vibe. The carpet and fabric in my room were definitely stained. This is 1000% the hotel I stayed at, since it’s the only Best Western in Watsonville. The worst part was the landscaping outside the rooms from 6-9 AM. They started at the crack of dawn, before 9, pulling loud chains across the sidewalks and using equipment. I could hear them screaming in Spanish all morning, and I couldn’t sleep. Let guests sleep in the early morning.

I’ve stayed here three different times, and the rooms have always been very clean and well maintained. My kids are fans of the free breakfast and heated pool. The fitness center is small, but it works for a quick workout. The main parking lot is on the small side, though there’s another lot around the corner.
