I updated this because the pending transaction can sit for three weeks or longer. Dealing with the manager of this hotel and Springhill Suites across the street has felt passive aggressive, and I expected no less after my earlier experience. There's a banquet hall next door, so an event can mean loud music, disruptive guests, and other evening noise. The rooms are clean, but the stairwells and carpet are showing wear. Staff turnover seems high, which feels like a red flag, and the manager came across as pompous. I had a confusing check-in with the mobile app and an unregistered guest, complained, and got a long response I couldn't even be bothered to finish reading. If you want the Marriot brand, there are two other nearby hotels within walking distance. Unfortunately this one seems to be run by a manager who's a bootlicker for his vacation perks.

The location is great, but the beds are cheap and painfully hard. I had to roll onto the other shoulder several times a night. Like many Marriott properties these days, this place may suit you if you prefer a hard mattress. Marriott beds have steadily gotten worse over the past ten years, in my experience, and you never know what quality you'll get. Hilton Garden Inn, on the other hand, puts the customer first and is making Marriott look bad, though Marriott used to be much better.

Trina checked us in on our first night, and she was amazing. She was friendly, helpful, polite, and just lovely to talk with. We stayed for our son's Navy graduation, and the base was an easy 15 minutes away.

The housekeeper threw away all my food, toiletries, and belongings several days before I was meant to check out. It's been difficult dealing with the hotel about compensation and even getting the situation handled conveniently. I wouldn't recommend it.

Getting to Six Flags and around the area was easy from here. I stayed for a leisure trip to visit Six Flags Great America, and the room was in great condition, clean, comfortable, and well maintained. The staff were friendly at check-in and welcoming throughout the visit. Breakfast was free, had a good selection, and made a nice start to the day. I'd stay again and recommend it to anyone coming to the area.
