I spent 10 days in Waukesha visiting family and picked The Clarke Hotel because it was central to the places I wanted to go. I could walk to Riverwalk, several bars and restaurants, and a number of historic sites. Travieso is on the first floor, and I highly recommend it. The people at the hotel were extremely nice and helpful, and I had a significantly better stay here than at the usual chain hotels I’ve used around the U.S. My room was amazing. It was in a historic building, with high ceilings, great lighting, and plenty of space. The bathroom was huge, with a walk-in shower, a seat, and multiple showerheads. The thermostat controlled both heating and cooling. I also liked having the bar area with a mini-fridge, plus a comfortable chair and recliner. Room: Executive Room, 1 King + City View
We stayed at the Clarke for our wedding, and every member of my family kept saying how much they liked the hotel. The rooms were quite large, and the showers were phenomenal. The staff were courteous, especially Julia, who went out of her way to get us set up and handle anything we needed. I’d absolutely stay here again and recommend it to anyone looking for a fun place to stay.
The location in the heart of downtown and the building itself are great, and the staff are really friendly and helpful. I gave the room, service, and hotel four stars because management seems to be cutting costs in ways that don’t fit the place. The in-room coffee is bad, and there’s no overnight staff, so a room key problem during those hours could be hard to sort out. They do explain the staffing situation and how to avoid demagnetizing your key. Those two issues just don’t match the boutique hotel or its location.
Staying at the Clark Hotel in Waukesha, Wisconsin, was a pleasant experience. It’s right downtown, so shops, restaurants, and attractions are easy to reach on foot. The hotel has a cozy charm, the rooms are comfortable, and the staff are welcoming. The place also seemed well kept. The advertised free breakfast comes as vouchers rather than a regular buffet. At first that was disappointing because the voucher amount didn’t quite cover a full breakfast. Still, I liked being able to put it toward any meal at the restaurant, which worked well for lunch or dinner. I’d recommend the Clark Hotel to visitors who care about comfort and location.
It’s a nice hotel and good value, but being right in downtown meant it was usually noisy until 11:00 p.m. to midnight.
