We ended up paying for a suite this time because the regular rooms were full. The suite was more than we usually spend. We often come to the Jefferson for shows at the Grand Theater, which is an easy walk away, and my husband has also had many eye procedures and surgeries at the nearby Eye Clinic. The hotel is clean and the staff are helpful. Parking can be tough. The lot fills quickly, so you need to arrive around check-in if you want a spot there. Otherwise, you’ll have to walk to the garage or another lot. Breakfast costs $12 per plate and wasn’t very good. We’d rather go to the Mint Cafe. I wish breakfast were free.

Meagan at the front desk was a bright spot when we were lost, both at night and again in the morning. We only needed a room for one night on our way to Lake Suoerior, with dinner planned at the Lemongrass next door. The hotel was lovely: a big room, a comfortable bed, and a surprisingly quiet night despite it being nearly full. It’s right in the downtown shopping area. We’ll be back!

The hotel’s location worked perfectly for the gymnastics meet at the YMCA down the street, and we were quoted a rate of $140 per night for the event. I specifically confirmed that price with the woman who took my reservation over the phone, and the emailed bill for our two nights was correct. When we checked out, though, a new bill arrived by email with an extra $5 per night. The woman at the desk couldn’t fix it, so I asked her to have the manager call me promptly. No one called. She did issue a $10 credit, but that still left the bill wrong: with tax, I was overcharged about $12 total, and I never got the tax back. I had already reported it in the email survey, but the problem wasn’t resolved, so I waited a few weeks and posted here. I stay at hotels often for gymnastics and expect to be charged the agreed amount. Check your bill and what you’re charged.

After skiing, we really enjoyed the pool and hot tub. There’s free parking in the garage across the street, and Granite Peak is about a 10-minute drive away. The hotel itself is clean and spacious. The premier suite has a full living room, kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom, with plenty of room. The breakfast was advertised as a full free breakfast, but what we got was a $12 credit covering two eggs, two slices of toast, and coffee. The shower was also tiny, with hardly enough space to move around.

We chose this hotel mainly for its location in downtown Wasuau, and the check-in service was excellent. The room felt somewhat dated for what it cost. It wasn’t terrible, but it didn’t feel like an upgrade either.
