Quik Stop and Motel

The staff are really nice. If you ask for fresh blankets or anything else, they'll bring it to you. The bed is a bit hard, and there was hair in the bathroom. The microwave was a little dirty too, though it wasn't too bad.

The room was damp, musty, and dirty. There was hair all over the beds, the pillows were extremely flat, and there was no soap and barely a quarter roll of toilet paper in the bathroom. The TV had unidentified fluids on its screen, and the remote had ended up under the bed. We'd only wanted somewhere decent to sleep and shower. I called on the day we needed the room because online reservations weren't available, and was quoted $75 for a two-queen room. I called back later to book and was told I could pay at the counter. I checked the price again, then confirmed it once more when they called to direct us to a lockbox since we'd arrive after the gas station closed. They said it was in front of our room, but after searching around the building we found it in front of the gas station instead. At checkout I was charged $100. The woman said that was the policy, despite my confirming the $75 price several times. She was rude, and I was in a hurry, so I paid and left. Even with very low expectations, this place fell short. We won't come back or recommend it.

The room smelled clean, and there were no bugs or signs of pests. The cable was convenient, but the Wi-Fi didn't work. There's free coffee at the gas station, though nobody mentioned it to us. Pets are allowed for an extra $20 per night. The day shift staff were friendlier than the evening staff who checked us in. The place wasn't terrible for one night, but we left as soon as we got up. Even after a 7.5-hour drive, we chose to cut our vacation short rather than stay another night. The weather forecast was poor, and if the room had been cleaner, we would have waited out the storm. There were dozens of tiny rocks on the floor, so I asked for a vacuum to clean it myself. The linens needed replacing or bleaching, and the cleaning crew or their process needs improvement. The clerk wasn't friendly. When asked about a negative review, she said, "Its a motel, not a hotel what do they expect?" The cost is as much as, or more than, places with more amenities. If you can, stay somewhere else.

My husband and I booked two nights while visiting my mother, but we couldn't face staying for the second night. I work in housekeeping management and wasn't expecting a five-star room, just somewhere clean to sleep. We should have slept in the car, but it was late and we tried to make it work. Everything was so damp that I put towels over the bedspread before lying down. The room had a dirty-basement smell. The sheets were covered in hair, the tub looked like it hadn't been cleaned even before the last guest, and there were toothpaste spots on the mirror and dust on the tables. The refrigerator was unplugged, smelled awful, and still had the previous guest's drinks in it. The floor hadn't been vacuumed in a long time. Other guests sitting outside told me they were out there because of the dampness and smell. One man said he stayed there because it was close to where he liked to fish, and slept in his clothes. When I asked at checkout for a refund for the second night because the first was so horrendous, she refused and said hotel policies wouldn't allow it. That's a bold lie, as I've worked in hotels. The reviews saying the rooms are clean and comfy are probably from the owners' family, based on what several other guests told us. This place seems to make money because of its location. Drive a little farther and pay a little more, but don't stay here.
