The manager wasn't due in until Sunday, and this was Friday, so there was no one available to speak with. I come to town several times a year to visit family, and this was easily my worst stay. After checking in without much trouble, I noticed trash on the floor and a dead bug on the bed. When I reported it and asked when the room had last been sprayed, the desk clerk asked whether I wanted to find another hotel. There weren't any nearby, so I stayed. The next morning, mold was floating in old coffee left in the machine, and there was stool in the toilet. That confirmed for me that the room hadn't been cleaned.

For two nights during a snowstorm, it was about what I expected. They did replace my towels while I was at work on the second day, which I appreciated. I'd stay again, though the facility could use some attention.

I found Ameristay Inn & Suites in Waverly dependable for a place to rest, whether you're visiting family or just passing through. The free WiFi and indoor pool were nice extras, and the staff were friendly and tried to make guests feel at home. Check-in was welcoming and easy, and my room was comfortable and well kept. It seems like a good option for a night or a longer visit.

We chose this smaller, family-owned place because it looked decent, but the whole weekend was a letdown. The owner was around a couple of times and didn't even make eye contact or say hello. For all the trouble, we got only $10 off per night. I was so disappointed, and I wouldn't stay again. Look into it more than I did and spare yourself the frustration. We checked in late Thursday for a girls' weekend. On Friday morning, they announced a fire alarm test or inspection for every room, so my friend skipped her shower because a worker could come in at any time. When I finally showered later, the water pressure was poor. My friend then had good pressure, until the faucet blew off and across the tub. Staff said we could move from the second to the third floor or wait for a repair Saturday morning. We stayed put. After being out all day Saturday, we found they'd supposedly fixed it, but the faucet came off again. A little later, the toilet stopped flushing. After several tries, we called downstairs and were told to come get a plunger. I don't pay for a hotel to deal with its plumbing problems.

I arrived at 4:05 PM, drove around town, then realized at 4:15 I had come on the wrong weekend. They refused to refund my $215 or move the reservation to the following weekend. The only option they gave me was to charge my card again to book the next weekend. I said no and asked them to use what I'd already paid to hold the room, but the woman kept refusing. I paid and didn't even stay there.
