Cobblestone Inn & Suites - Waverly

We booked a block of rooms for our wedding, and guests ran into one problem after another. Some rooms weren't ready at check-in, there were card reader problems, and one guest's toddler was woken from an afternoon nap by staff banging on the door and claiming checkout had passed and there was no second night. The guests had paid for that night and had proof. Worse, our bride and groom reservation was canceled and given to another customer because we didn't check in the first night while decorating. We had nowhere to stay on our wedding night and had to drive home. A family member had paid for us as a gift, but their card was still charged for both nights. It was a terrible experience. The clerk was rude as soon as we gave our reservation name and said he hated his job. Personal problems shouldn't be taken out on customers. Do not book here.

As someone who used to manage front desk and housekeeping, I rarely leave reviews, but this stay was disappointing as both a guest and a professional. Management never contacted me about the repeated problems or the multiple room changes. Even a simple apology or follow-up would have helped. Cobblestone's promise of small-town hospitality and attention to detail wasn't reflected at this location. I hope leadership improves room inspections and how staff respond when a guest has a problem. Travelers deserve a clean room and to feel valued when something goes wrong. I checked in around 10:44 p.m. and was moved four times, to Rooms 306, 310, 402, and 302. Each move followed cleanliness issues: visible hair, residue on bathroom fixtures, or urine around toilet bases. Those are basic things a final inspection should catch before check-in.

Jody and Caleb were fantastic with our group during a business stay. I dealt mostly with Caleb for the reservation, check-in, and checkout, and he's a great guy. Jody was absolutely wonderful to all of us throughout the stay. Cobblestone is lucky to have them. We'll definitely stay at the Cobblestone whenever we're in town.

The price made me expect twice the quality of a budget motel, but what I got felt like half the quality for twice the cost. I won't stay again and will ask for a full refund. I was moved to another room with the same features after finding the first bed unmade, as if someone had just slept in it. The desk clerk didn't seem surprised, which made me think this might be normal. I'd never checked into a hotel or motel with an unmade bed, and I was surprised they didn't at least offer to comp part of the bill. In the second room, I found brown stains on the air conditioner, probably cola or coffee that hadn't been cleaned. I got suspicious about the hotel's cleanliness and didn't sleep under the comforter. The king mattress nearly buckled in the middle under me. I'm a 6'4" 300-pound middle-aged man, and I sank so far in that it took all my strength to get up. The firmest spot was at the foot, where I slept, but I only got about 2-4 hours before waking and leaving in the morning. At checkout, the clerk read back the email address from my reservation without the dot in my name. When I corrected her, she insisted there was no dot, even though I know my own address. Whoever took the reservation had recorded it wrong. She didn't apologize, just smiled and said she'd print a copy. While loading my car, I saw a name-tagged cleaning worker sitting on the guest lounge couch watching TV. Staff can watch TV, but having them sit by the entrance in the guest lounge seemed appalling to me. People aren't paying $170 a night for that.
