Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Dallas Waxahachie

We spent the evening before Mothers Day here, and it was peaceful and relaxing. The staff were very nice, and you can get the rooms quite cold if that’s how you like them. I’d recommend it for future visits.

The location worked well, right by the highway with easy access to the on-ramp in either direction, and close to the main shopping area and restaurants. The staff were great: Larry helped me by phone before I arrived and again at check-in, and housekeeping found my cup holder and had the front desk call me before I left. I didn’t get the two women’s names, but I really appreciate them. The room was clean, though it could use some maintenance. The glass shower door’s top hinge was completely loose, so we left it open rather than risk it falling or getting water on the bathroom floor. Some towel hooks were missing or nearly falling out. We were heating food when a styrofoam plate started smoking and set off the smoke alarm. No one answered our call to the desk, so we went downstairs to tell them. They didn’t know how to turn it off and sent a custodian up. He couldn’t deactivate it, then used my pocket knife to cut the alarm out. It caused an electrical arc and burned a hole in my knife. He taped the exposed cables and screwed the alarm back in without rewiring it, leaving it unusable. I hope it’s been repaired for the next guest 😬😬😬.

The hotel was clean and fine, and breakfast was okay, better than at some Fairfields. The gym is small but clean, and the location is decent. What concerns me is the extensive damage to the bathroom tiles, both in the shower and on the floor.

I was here for work and found it to be a good hotel. Rosie and Larry really made the stay better, though. They were cheerful, stayed composed under pressure, and gave me great service.
