Best Western Plus Wayland Hotel

I was really irritated by the lack of room service. Our room wasn’t cleaned on either day, and we didn’t get fresh towels. The elevator was broken both days too, so I had to haul all our luggage up three flights of stairs a few times. Breakfast was also a hassle because the kitchen kept running out of juice, and the pool and hot tub were both closed the whole time we were there. The service itself was good, though. I may give it another try later to see if I’m just overreacting, but I’d like a refund for at least one night.

The breakfast buffet had plenty of variety and was good over the weekend, though the weekday selection was sparse and wasn’t replenished as well. Maybe there just weren’t as many guests, but we’ve stayed at other hotels where the food stays full and fresh. We mostly used the hotel for sleeping and breakfast during our four days there, and for the price the stay was good. The staff were friendly and the rooms clean. Our highway-facing room was a bit loud at night. The bed was comfortable, even if the pillows were lumpy. We didn’t get maid service, so it was a bit of a bummer not to have fresh towels after the second day, but it wasn’t a big deal.

The front desk staff, including the man, helped us with everything we needed. When our ride hadn’t arrived yet, they let us wait and hang out in the lobby. I absolutely love the workers here, and I’ll definitely stay here again if I’m back at a hotel in the area.

The pool smelled strongly of mildew and was really nasty. We got home Sunday, and my son was sick the next morning. I may contact the department I’m supposed to report this to, because, ew. This should never have happened, and getting us into a room was the least they could have done. I reserved two rooms in early March for my sons’ soccer tournament on April 23, then called three days beforehand to confirm. They even gave me room numbers, 101 and 102. When we arrived, one room had gone to Expedia, and the other had been switched to room 100, which had a dirty tub. My nearly 80-year-old mother had to clean it herself so she could take a bath. The clerk seemed completely unsure how to fix the mess and was unprofessional, telling us about her own business and that she’d gotten in trouble for calling the manager. I’m convinced she gave the rooms away. She was a Caucasian woman in her mid-60s with light hair. The manager eventually spoke with my partner and tried to make things right, but it was unbelievable that they couldn’t work out what to do for at least two hours while other people checked in right in front of us.
