Comfort Inn & Suites

The spot is convenient, just off Interstate 40, but the room was rough. After driving more than 800 miles from Phoenix, AZ, I ended up in the last room on a hallway where hotel construction was underway, so there was plenty of noise. The room also smelled worse than any I’ve stayed in. Maybe that’s what happens when you don’t book ahead.

I stay in hotels all over for work, and this was easily one of the most unpleasant. The supposed manager treated me badly, and there was constant noise while I was trying to sleep. They say they’re remodeling, but all you get is a lot of noise and lousy service. They shouldn’t be taking guests during repairs; they’d be better off closing until the work is done. I can’t recommend it. There are other hotels in the same area that I think are much better.

It was remarkably quiet, and I slept well on a comfortable bed with both firm and soft pillows to choose from. The room was very clean and had a microwave, fridge, and coffee pot. Staff were helpful and courteous, and breakfast was excellent, with lots of hot, tasty choices. I’ll stay here again.

There was plenty of room for my truck, and the place itself was comfortable. The problem came at check-in: I hadn’t booked online, and they quoted a similar rate, but wouldn’t let me pay for two days, saying the second day would be added automatically. Then the rate went up the next day. It shouldn’t have increased unless that was the plan from the start. It felt like a little scam, so I can’t recommend staying unless you reserve online. Otherwise, it was comfortable.
