Americas Inn

Pubic hair in the sink basin was absolutely unacceptable. The room was $50, so I could maybe expect to find a bug tucked away somewhere, but that was too much. The TVs also didn't have remotes that worked properly, and getting help meant going to the front desk, where management was extremely rude.

I was in town to see family and paid a $50 deposit when I arrived. It never came back. After nearly two weeks, someone finally answered the phone and said I was mistaken. I emailed a copy of my statement showing the charge, but they still denied it. Very bad business practice. I wouldn't stay here again, and I'd urge others to be very wary too.

My 85 year old mother needed a place to stay for an out of town church meeting, so I booked her the whirlpool room as a treat. The $100 deposit and another $600 payment if anything went wrong made her nervous, though, and she asked for a room without a whirlpool. They put her in the basement, not on the first floor. Neither door in her room locked, and the back one looked like it had been forced open before. There wasn't a blanket, just three sheets she folded over to stay warm. The floor had debris, there was food in the fridge and garbage in the trash, and the wrinkled bedding made her worry it wasn't clean. She also saw repeated police activity in the parking lot. It was late, and she was worried she wouldn't find somewhere else, so she wanted to leave but stayed. The clerk said the housekeeper had quit during the week. His main focus seemed to be converting her to Christianity, and he only stopped when she said she already was one. Literally the filthiest room I've ever seen. Under no circumstances would I stay here.

It's a cozy, affordable motel around here, with a real home-like feel. The place has always been clean and relaxing when I've stayed, and the atmosphere is laid-back and comfortable. The staff are great, especially at the front desk. They're helpful and always seem to want to make the experience better. This place is worth staying at.
