Comfort Suites near NASA - Clear Lake

I'm checking in and just found out there's a 300 dollar incidental fee. Why? Am I renting a car? This isn't the Marriott or some high-priced hotel. I was told I'd pay 25 dollars per fee per night, and I'm only staying one night, yet my card was charged almost 80 dollars. I'm really disappointed and will complain all the way to the top. This is ridiculous. Stay far away. You've lost my business with this nonsense.

The service was excellent and the people were nice, but several things were broken and never fixed, including the TV and phone. The hot tub was also broken, with no plans to repair it, and that was mostly why we chose this location. It was advertised as an indoor hot tub. I added a photo from the hotel's page after my review to show that, and I feel validated because this was my honest experience. The front desk man first said the TV couldn't be fixed or that we'd have to change rooms. He later came by, removed electrical tape from the area that needed to receive the remote signal, and brought two remotes from the office. Both had to be used to operate the TV, and it only worked if you held your arm and bit your tongue in just the right position. I'm thankful for the temporary fix, but it was still a problem.

The room was clean, breakfast was good, and the staff were nice. The pool was a letdown for me and the kids, though, so we never swam. The indoor water was too cold, probably because the room itself was cold, and the jets didn't work. The advertised hot tub wasn't hot, a light hung in the deep end by an electrical wire, and the overhead lights flickered. I'd seen pool complaints in Google reviews but figured they might have been fixed by now. The pool chair lift also appeared to need repair and wasn't working. We didn't need it, but anyone who does should check its status before booking. My kids had hoped to use the indoor pool in cooler weather, as we've done elsewhere. We'll probably try another place when we visit their grandparents in a few months. We usually stay somewhere else, but it had no vacancies over the holiday weekend. Aside from the pool not being as advertised, the stay was fine.

I booked three nights but checked out after seeing two German roaches crawling around the bathroom the next morning. I packed right away, showed the pictures to the gentleman at the front desk, and he said he'd try to get me a refund because of what happened. I never got one, so I had to pay for two more nights at another hotel. I didn't try the breakfast. If there are roaches in the rooms, they're probably in the kitchen too. The first room they gave me was dirty, and the lights looked as if they had caught fire. They moved me and said that room shouldn't have been given out. The replacement was better until the roaches appeared.
