The Winthrop Arms Hotel And Restaurant

The ocean views and the place's charm made a lovely impression, and our room was spotless and comfortable for an older property. Downstairs, the restaurant had delicious food and drinks, and the staff were so warm and friendly that they really made our stay. There was a small mix-up at check-in about the Expedia charge. We thought half would be charged, but apparently only one night was charged upfront. The owner came over and explained it, and he was really nice. We'd love to return to this gem.

We were pleasantly surprised by how clean and comfortable the rooms were. They were in very good shape and looked recently upgraded. The beach is close by, and parking worked well, though we visited outside the warmer months. Check-in happens in the restaurant, which felt a little odd arriving in the evening.

The hotel has a great history and location, and the rooms, food, and drinks were all reasonably priced. The staff were wonderfully kind and hospitable. We loved the place, even if it's a little rough around the edges. Their chicken pot pie and mashed potatoes were the best we've ever had. We'll definitely come back.

The drinks were good and the servers were kind, but the kitchen really needs to get it together. My chicken parm was tough and chewy, and the convenience store style breading fell right off. The medium burger came out scalding hot, around 275°, as if it had been microwaved or boiled to get that temperature without charring. These were two simple, quick dishes, and I can't believe they were made and sent out without a second thought. One of the worst restaurants I've eaten at.
