We got a good price, and the hotel met my needs, but I expected more from its review rating. I’d call it an above-average place for the money, maybe an 8 out of 10 at most, not a 9. Free parking, internet, and breakfast helped support that rating. It was busy during our two-night stay, so breakfast was usually packed. The elevators were kind of messy, with coffee spills and splashes, though the staff seemed to try to keep up and some guests are messy. Cleanliness was around an 8. The room worked fine, but I wasn’t keen on the bathroom and toilet setup. The sofa showed some wear, also about an 8. Service and housekeeping were good, and parking got tight later in the evening, another 8. A plus was being near several decent places to eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I liked it for the price, as long as you don’t expect a 9-level hotel. I’d recommend it if you get a good deal.

The location worked well for us, just down the road from Space Center Houston and next to restaurants and Main Event. It’s set back from the main road, so traffic noise wasn’t much of an issue at night. Our suite was spacious and reasonably priced. I’m not a fan of the sliding barn-style bathroom doors, but that was a small thing. The hotel was clean, and breakfast was great. The women running the stations kept everything stocked and clean, even with the morning rush.

I travel for work all the time and have spent most of the past year at Marriott hotels around the US. This was easily the worst Marriott I’ve stayed at, maybe the worst hotel period. The first room had a broken fridge, so I switched rooms with help from a young woman. Later I found the toilet wouldn’t flush and the hair dryer didn’t work. When I called the front desk, the two men there acted like they didn’t care and said I’d have to deal with the toilet. I ended up fixing it myself. The man said there were no spare hair dryers and that he was too busy to get one from an empty room. That didn’t add up, since I’d just left an unoccupied room and saw online that several were available. After I kept asking, he admitted he had a spare, but made me come downstairs for it. The two employees were sitting behind the counter on their phones when I got there. They were rude, lazy, and unprofessional. Better training is needed. A better attitude would have made all of this more tolerable. One was a kid with curly hair and an Asian symbol tattoo behind his ear. My room was cleaned only once in six days, on the last day just before checkout. I’ve stayed here before, and that isn’t normal. This time, the service was a joke. I have to be in the area again next week, but I’ll be staying at a Hilton.

The room was big, modern, clean, and had everything we needed, including an extra sofa bed. It’s only six minutes from NASA. We were given just three towels for five people, though, and the Wi-Fi never worked during our two-night stay. Marriott Bonvoy showed full strength, but we couldn’t connect.

I asked more than a week ahead for a quiet room on the top floor away from the elevator, since I was staying 40 nights and work odd hours. At check-in I got a fifth-floor room, right across from the elevator in a six-story hotel. The walls are paper thin, so sleeping has been hard. This is the worst Marriott-branded hotel I’ve stayed in. The first thing I noticed was the overflowing dumpster, with trash scattered around it and a smell I could detect with the car windows down. Inside the room, the furniture was badly worn and the property clearly needs a remodel. There was blood on the clean comforter, the fridge didn’t get cold enough to keep food safe, and the soap holder and shower door handle were coming off the wall. There was also poop on the toilet seat. I tried calling the desk for over an hour, then gave up and went to Walmart for cleaning supplies. The bed had a crater in the middle, and the pillows were so bad I went back to WalMart to buy my own. Ten days have passed since the room was last cleaned. Today I returned to find the bed still unmade and my terry items gone, with none replaced. I requested towels through the Bonvoy App before going to dinner. Three hours later, the front desk said there were no clean ones and they might get some tomorrow. I have to be at work at 4am, so I guess I’ll be buying towels at Walmart too. The door closers make doors slam so hard that nearby rooms shake. The laundry room has two washers and two dryers, and half of them don’t work. The staff could care less. I used to be a hotel General Manager with Marriott, Hilton, Hyatt, and Choice Hotels, and this doesn’t meet any of their standards. It’s like a Motel 6 dressed up with the Marriott name. I’ve asked several times for a manager to contact me and heard nothing. On my next day off I may have to wait at the Front Desk until I can speak with one. My company is paying $109 per night for my 40-night stay in this dump.
