Motel 6 Weed - Mount Shasta

The woman at the front desk was great and deserves five stars. The room was dirty, with lots of little hairs in the shower, and there was no soap, toilet seat lid, or more than one towel. The lights didn’t work.

People were yelling outside at 2 am, and we were uncomfortable the whole night. The bedding seemed clean, but we slept on top of it anyway. The toilet looked like housekeeping had squirted Soft Scrub in it without using a brush, and it didn’t seem like they scrubbed anything else either. We would’ve gone somewhere else if we’d had a choice, but changing hotels after check-in is nearly impossible.

We didn’t stay, and they refunded our money, but then charged us again and threatened legal action unless we paid $112 for a motel we never used. It was vile, honestly, you’d be better off in your car or camping. The shower was disgusting and covered in mold, the sheets looked like they might have bed bugs, and there were dead cockroaches on the floor. It felt like a gross haunted hotel.

The room was decent, about average Motel 6 quality, and the service was great. I arrived late and got the last room, but it was cold and the HVAC only blew cold air. The front desk staff member with the Russian-sounding accent went out of his way to bring me a comforter and space heater. He was really nice about it, and I appreciated the help. Weed can dip into the low 50s even in summer, so the hotel should be able to provide comforters when people ask. I’m not especially sensitive to cold, but I was chilly, and I’d just flown in from San Diego.
