I prepaid for my trip and deposit through Booking.com, but when I arrived, the woman at the desk wanted me to put down another deposit, as if the charge on my account didn’t count. It was 10:30 at night, and she said I couldn’t stay without a physical card for the deposit I’d already paid. They refused to let me check in. This feels like a scam. Avoid this place at all costs.
The workers are great, and that’s the only reason I’m giving two stars. I live on the road and have stayed in plenty of hotels, but this is the worst one I’ve experienced. Our rooms weren’t ready when we flew in, and about 90% of the rooms had broken A/C, so they were extremely hot and the hotel offered box fans. None of the ice machines worked. The workers were buying bags of ice for guests out of their own pockets. It’s sad that the employees care more about guests than the owners, who want the money but won’t invest back into the business. Fire alarms kept blaring through the night, so we barely slept before full 10-hour construction shifts. That’s a safety hazard. Absolutely ridiculous and unacceptable. We’re moving to another hotel. Get it together or get out of the business.
For the price, I’d stay again, but I’d ask for a room on the west side. We were on the side facing the interstate, and the traffic noise was a problem. The bed and pillows were comfortable, the shower was great, and the room was good for the rate. The lobby and common areas were clean and nice, and the staff were pleasant. The TV reception and channel volume were poor. The thermostat didn’t match the room temperature, though we found a comfortable setting to sleep, so that wasn’t a big deal. I imagine the west side is quieter.
It was very cold in our downstairs room, especially coming back from the pool, because the lobby doors were left open even though it was 8 degrees outside. The pool was a little chilly, and I was disappointed there wasn’t a hot tub, but it was nice and we used it several times. On the Tuesday overnight shift, the woman at the front desk preached Christianity to my husband and told him he wasn’t going to heaven and couldn’t be Christian because he is trans gender. That was extremely disrespectful. She was sweet to us otherwise, and it didn’t really bother him, but I was very upset and had to walk to my car to keep from saying something harsh. If she does that with other guests, I don’t think the hotel will get much business. Aside from that, we had a wonderful three-night stay and would come back.
The rooms were clean and the bed was very comfortable, and most of the staff were great. One guy at the front desk was off-putting, though, and housekeeping woke me twice by coming into my room in the morning. Breakfast was disappointing. The cereal was stale and there was no butter for the toast. When I asked for more, they said they’d be back, but I never saw them again. If you just need a room and a bed, I’d recommend it. For a longer stay, I’d look elsewhere.
