SpringHill Suites by Marriott Loveland Fort Collins/Windsor

The room had a useful desk area for working, and check-in and check-out were both quick and easy. The location is good, near lots of attractions, and the room was clean. Breakfast was good, and staff were eager to help. My only complaint was that the room wouldn’t get very dark at night because of its location and the curtain.

There’s lots of space in the room, the decor is modern, the location is good, and the staff were excellent. But the details feel like they were put together by someone who didn’t know what they were doing. The bathroom door lock was broken, there was no fan, the AC barely cooled the room, and the shower faucet arm wobbled all over. I wondered if it was leaking inside the wall. The beds were hard and the pillows lumpy. There were no outlets or shelves except between the beds, which seems odd for a family of four with phones and glasses. No hot tub either, and the hot breakfast options were bad, though the eggs were fine and stuck to the yogurt and bagel. Basically, a two-star hotel that’s newer and has better staff.

We waited over an hour to check in, even though I’d been told an early check-in was possible, and the front desk staff weren’t friendly. The bathroom, especially the shower, wasn’t clean. A flashing light from the smoke alarm lit up the room all night. I’m surprised more people haven’t mentioned it.

We had a pleasant late-night welcome, and the neighborhood felt safe even after dark. Parking was free and plentiful. The hotel was very quiet, with no noise from outside or other guests, and the rooms were clean, fairly new, nicely styled, and everything worked. Breakfast was the usual kind, though the eggs were quiche or frittata rounds, or egg on a packaged ham and egg croissant, rather than scrambled. The turkey sausage was blah and the biscuits were terrible, but there was cut and whole fruit, which was nice. All in all, a very nice stay.
