Anchor Inn and Cottages Wells Ogunquit

We stayed in a two-bedroom suite, and it was helpful that each room had its own temperature control since my 90-year-old mom gets cold. The kitchen was small but worked well. The fridge door opened awkwardly, so it would be better if it swung the other way, and tying the cables together would make things look neater. The internet wasn't good if you need to work on a laptop. The location was good, with Hanford right down the street. Pets are allowed for a $35 fee, and the place was clean.

I travel a lot and have never felt so uncomfortable over something as personal as my service dogs. At check-in, the front desk person, who may have been a manager or owner, was dismissive and unwelcoming. They asked invasive questions about why I needed the dogs and requested documentation. I believe that was illegal and discriminatory under ADA law. The room also looked less appealing and was noticeably less clean than advertised. It left me feeling like I'd gotten the short end of the stick because I had service animals. I wouldn't choose this place again. Wells has plenty of other inns that are welcoming, clean, and compassionate, and I'd recommend looking elsewhere if respect, privacy, and basic decency matter to you.

The staff who looked after our room were lovely. They cleaned around us and our things, made the beds, replenished supplies, and took out our trash during our week-long stay. Thank you to those kind workers! We liked that there was no carpet, and the room smelled really clean when we arrived and after service. There were lots of cute dogs around, too. It's pet friendly, but our room didn't smell like pets. There was a pool, grill, Connect 4, and other things to use, and the price felt worth it. Weekend parking got a little hectic, though weekends are the busy time. The beds were a bit hard and I usually woke up with a stiff back, but a heating pad and some pills helped. Our baby seemed to enjoy the firm bed!

Our family of six had a cottage and two rooms, and we could make breakfast and some dinners in the fully stocked kitchen. It felt like a perfect beach cabin setup. The location was ideal, and the grounds were beautifully maintained. Staff were friendly and accommodating, and the place felt quiet and safe. Guests could sit outside, walk their dogs, grill, and swim in the pool. We didn't bring pets, but it's very pet friendly.
