Quality Inn & Suites West Bend

The location really isn’t somewhere I’d choose for a vacation. Our room was dirty: there was urine all over the toilet that looked like it had been there a while, mold on the windowsills, and grime on the floors. The heater vents had about an inch of dust on them, too.

I was visiting my hometown and stayed here, and I’ll definitely come back. The staff were extremely helpful and professional, and the whole place was impressively clean and quiet. Breakfast was basic but good. Nice bonus that the bathroom fan has its own switch. The pool was clean and the hot tub was hot.

I checked in around September 1 and was put on the top floor. I woke up covered in itchy, painful welts from my neck down my back and legs. I still have scars on my arms and neck. Once I realized what was happening, I took high-quality photos and videos of bed bugs crawling around the bed, along with pictures and video of the welts. I told the front desk around 3 a.m.; after I showed them the evidence, they moved me to another room. They let me stay until noon because I’d lost an hour of sleep, but a late checkout doesn’t make up for the pain and disgusting experience. I considered legal action, but haven’t found the right lawyer. I called corporate and got the runaround without answers. This place should be shut down, and exterminators should come in and deal with the problem. It’s upsetting to feel expendable because I’m a single man in my fifties with nothing, and I don’t expect anything. If I could post the videos and pictures here, people would see the bed bugs. If you’re willing to risk bringing bugs home and spreading them through your own house, this is the place for you.

Just what I needed: an affordable room near downtown West Bend. I walked in on a weekday and was able to get a room. The staff were really nice and helpful, and it was clean and quiet. Breakfast bar was good.
