Days Inn West Des Moines

I’ve been staying here while waiting for an apartment, and the staff have been wonderful, going above and beyond. The rooms are clean, and breakfast is like something I’d make at home. The location is very convenient, with Walmart, Hy-vee, a gas station, Sam's Club, and a lot more all within 5 miles, plus public transportation. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay again.

I got there 3-4 hours before check-in, but the kind woman at reception got me into a room early, so I didn’t have to wait. The rooms were clean and the beds very comfortable. The building had a pleasant smell too, which can be a problem at some hotels. All in all, a comfortable stay and good value for the money.

This could be a great little hotel, since the cleanliness was good and the breakfast included a waffle maker. But small things matter. The toilets were all loose enough that their set screws could shear and potentially hurt someone. The A/C in my room ran for a while, then started cycling erratically, clicking on and off sometimes 40-50 times within an hour. The rooms and hotel were also very humid, with really poor HVAC. Breakfast had really bad coffee and biscuits and gravy with almost no seasoning. For what it is, the stay wasn’t horrible overall.

The location was great, and the room and bed were nice and clean. We were on a family trip, and the manager was a good lady. A good guy gave a good review.
