Residence Inn by Marriott Des Moines West at Jordan Creek Town Center

I’m hoping to come back in June and enjoy the big outdoor patio. The location worked well, and the service was excellent, especially the daytime front desk woman. She was friendly, kind, and knew her stuff. My friends and I all felt she made the weekend memorable. Give her a raise, and I hope she’s still there in June. Don’t lose that smile. We stayed in early December with lifelong friends and their wives, who’d come from California and Oklahoma. The rooms, bed, and pillows were comfortable, with what we needed for a short stay. Breakfast had the usual hotel options, plus chocolate milk. I wasn’t expecting fine dining, and I liked having salsa for the scrambled eggs. I went back for seconds all three mornings. The coffee could’ve been hotter.

We always stay here when we're on the road. It's dog friendly, with plenty of parking and a walking path right out back. Lots of restaurants are nearby, too. Mike at the front desk is awesome!

The room was clean, and housekeeping did a great job, but the stay overall wasn’t great. The textured surfaces in the pool and hot tub were really rough, and my son cut his foot badly enough to bleed across the pool deck. The hallway fragrances and air fresheners were overpowering.

I travel for a living and have written only two other reviews in my life, so this experience felt worth sharing for anyone considering a stay. I’m a top tier Hilton member and fairly high up with Marriott, and I’ve never had this happen when checking into a hotel. The person at the front desk was so rude that he started an argument with me, while the manager was there. I canceled two nights right then and left Marriott. I’ll likely stay with Hilton full time instead. I usually stay here because it’s close by. I’d strongly suggest trying the Rewind or another Marriott property. Really unfortunate.
