The Hermitage Inn Vermont

Brendan, the general manager, was a huge help while I planned my engagement dinner and photoshoot at the Hermitage Inn. Everyone there was friendly and accommodating to my fiancée and me. The inn is beautiful, the meal was delicious, and having a private dinner in one of their gondolas made for one of the most special settings we've experienced. If you're visiting Mount Snow and want a romantic evening in town, I highly recommend the Hermitage Inn.

The room and food have been lovely on our previous visits, so this last meal was a real letdown. We’ve eaten at The Hermitage Inn a handful of times and usually look forward to it. The setting is beautiful and the food has consistently been delicious, but this time the service didn't meet the standard we expect from fine dining. We felt hurried while ordering, then couldn't get anyone's attention afterward. Our water glasses stayed empty, and nobody came by to ask if we needed anything. My steak was cold. It took asking three different staff members to get a steak knife, and that was nearly ten minutes later. I hope it was just an off night. We’ve enjoyed going before, but this visit was disappointing.

We tried dinner here several times over the holidays and the food was outstanding every time. The staff were very accommodating, too. One evening service moved slowly because the kitchen was backed up, but the team did what they could to handle it. We enjoy eating at the bar, in the main dining room, or back in the fireplace lounge. The food is consistently very, very good.

The waitresses were both wonderful, and the grounds and service are gorgeous. But on a Sunday morning, we were the only table there and waited 45 minutes for food. Nothing tasted like much. My latte came cold from a machine, without espresso, and the eggs were made from premixed egg mix instead of fresh eggs. I asked for no cheese, but every egg dish had cheese. I'm sorry, but this restaurant should be shut down.
