Gray Plaza Motel

We stayed here in December 2023, just before Christmas. It's an older hotel and shows its age, but everything in the room was very clean, including the bedding, tub, and toilet. The room smelled clean too, and the hot water was good. The front desk was very nice, pets are allowed, and the price was quite reasonable. There's a good burger place right across the street. If you just need somewhere to sleep for the night before heading out the next day, this is perfect.

I went to check on someone experiencing homelessness who is temporarily staying at this hotel. The room smelled strongly of cigarette smoke coming from neighboring rooms, and there's no breakfast available. The microwave didn't work, and the hotel wouldn't replace it, so the person had to buy expensive fast food for every meal. Broken concrete on the sidewalk and in the parking lot also makes walking hazardous.

The owner greeted us with a smile and was really friendly. Room 242 was clean, with fresh linens and comfortable beds and pillows. The bathroom was clean too, and we had a microwave and mini fridge, but no coffee pot. The toilet is low, which was awkward for me at 6 feet and 320 pounds. The Wi-Fi was fast and I slept well. A county sheriff patrolled the parking lot, which was a bonus, and we didn't find any bed bugs or other bugs in the room. I love these older retro motels and would stay here again. The owner has an awesome garden too, and I'm sure he'd share if asked. Thanks.

The room was neat and had an old pullout sofa, but the lock seemed flimsy and I didn't feel safe. The air conditioner barely worked, so I knew I wouldn't sleep well. I stayed just long enough to eat, feed my cat, and let him use his litter box. I read other reviews saying the owners didn't seem concerned about cockroaches. Then I heard the owner tell another guest, "so what, cockroaches don't bite." If he hadn't said that, I would've given more stars. I know hotels can have bug problems, but they have to try to control them. I don't trust a hotel whose owners don't consider cockroaches a problem.
