Days Inn West Liberty

The room's faint smoke-like smell disappeared quickly after I used a simple scented gel. It was comfortable after that, and having a jacuzzi tub in the room made the stay more enjoyable. Overall, things were fine at Magnuson Hotel West Liberty.

JC & Tereasa at Magnuson were especially helpful. It was clean, and I'd stay there again, but some maintenance would make a difference: most of the lights didn't work and the toilet rocked like a horse. I arrived late and had trouble spotting the place from street level because the sign was dim.

The room was clean and the water was hot. It's a small hotel up on a hill. Parking is first come, first served and not the best. The coffee downstairs wasn't bad, though it was Maxwell House and I'm a Folgers guy.

The room was clean, but had a weird, maybe musty smell. I think it might've come from the HVAC unit, but I'm not sure. Breakfast was oatmeal, cereal, and oranges, despite the 'grab and go' wording. I expected things like doughnuts or bagels that you can just pick up, especially since there's a toaster. Unless you toast your oatmeal, that toaster's basically decoration. The toilet is loud, the sink faucet blasts like a fire hose, and after 9 pm don't expect anyone to be at the front desk. I know that sounds like a pile of complaints, but these are just observations. If all you need is somewhere to sleep, it's probably closer to 4.5 stars.
