West Point Inn

We left because the hotel was beyond disgusting. We’d checked in and gone straight to a meeting at the Nielsen Community Center, then came back around 7 pm to find stains on the pillowcases and shower curtain, possible mildew, pubic hairs in the tub, broken lights, no TV remote, and old food in the freezer. We asked for a refund, but the clerk said it was too late because more than 20 minutes had passed since check-in. We had raised the problems within 20 minutes of finding them, though we had checked in earlier before going to the meeting. He offered another room, so we looked. Its bathroom seemed clean, but the fridge smelled so rotten that opening it was overwhelming. The clerk came to get the remote we’d requested for that room and was concerned about it being a universal remote, but not the fridge odor. He said he couldn’t contact the manager and told us to call Monday. I asked the manager to call us then, but doubt it’ll happen. There was no breakfast in the morning, despite it being advertised on the hotel sign, website, and room binder. When we asked about it, we were told there wouldn’t be any, even though we’d specifically asked when reserving earlier in the week and were told breakfast was included. The clerk refused to call the manager. At check-in, we’d had to call the desk host through a ring camera; he showed up in a stained T-shirt, sweatpants, and flip-flops. We rented a room and went straight to the meeting without inspecting it first.

They charged my card for the $78 jacuzzi room I booked on Booking.com, even though I’d told them I had a pet and they knew about it at check-in. Then they said pets weren’t allowed in that room and tried to move me. They should have told me before charging the card. I explained that this was all I had for a hotel room and that I didn’t have much for another hotel. They then threatened a $100 charge if they found even one pet hair in the jacuzzi. I stood my ground, and they called the police, which was traumatic for my mental health and disability. They said they’d refund me, so we’ll see. Luckily, another hotel I’ve had no problems with worked with me and my pets, gave me a good room at a lower price, and was friendly. They accepted my pets without extra charges. Don’t book here, go to Horizon. They’re much more honest.

We’ve stayed three times in three different rooms. Customer service has always been great, but the rooms are below par and all need maintenance. In one, a light fixture was hanging off the wall with wires exposed. The breakfast is awful: tiny muffins, white bread, or waffles you have to cook yourself on a griddle that doesn’t cook them through.

The GM, Parv, was the standout, always gracious and ready to help with any task. We stayed during a family party and appreciated how much effort they’ve put into moving the place from good to great. It looks like they’ve upgraded the carpet, paint, and more. I’d gladly stay again and highly recommend it.
