Hampton Inn & Suites West Sacramento

The noon checkout was really helpful, and breakfast had something for everyone. The kitchen staff kept coming out to refill things, and everything tasted good. There’s a heated outdoor pool, and the hotel welcomes pets. Our room was clean, with extra towels already there, plus a fridge and microwave that made it easy to enjoy our food. Seeing my name on the TV made me really happy. Everyone was friendly, especially the sweet front desk staff, and the guest service was so nice and accommodating. This is going on my list of favorite hotels. Thanks for a great stay, and keep being such nice people.

The hotel is being renovated right now, so there’s some annoying shaking, though the price hasn’t changed. Service was good. The rooms, breakfast, and clean eating area were about what you’d expect for the hotel’s rating.

At checkout I counted around 100 cars in the lot. At $10 each, that parking charge feels like a $1,000-a-night cash grab by the owner. This isn’t a downtown area where paid parking is the norm, and I was disappointed to find there were no exceptions for Hilton Honors members. The fee wasn’t mentioned when I booked. I was told at check-in I’d owe $10 per night to park. When I asked whether that paid for security, staff said they hadn’t hired any. They warn guests not to leave valuables in their cars because of crime, and fortunately mine wasn’t broken into. Earlier, I’d stopped for gas nearby and was approached by panhandlers, whom I later saw walking around the hotel lot. I didn’t feel safe here. I was tired and just wanted to get to my room, but had to either haul my luggage back out to put the parking permit in the windshield, take it upstairs and come back down, or risk a tow. This was the most expensive Hampton Inn I’ve stayed at this year, $177, and it wasn’t worth it. The guests checking in before me got complimentary water bottles, but no one offered me one. The bed was very uncomfortable, even worse than the one at the Quality Inn where I stayed the night before. The shower had weak pressure and wasn’t warm enough, and there were no washcloths, just towels.

Jesse was really helpful, and the staff were nice. The place was clean, and breakfast was standard premade food. The bed was the big problem, VERY UNCOMFORTABLE. I woke up feeling like someone had beaten me with a ball peen hammer.
