Hampton Inn Buffalo South/I-90

The morning after our first night, we woke up to screaming. When I looked outside, two housekeepers were screaming and fist fighting. That’s not what I expect from a Hampton Inn. The other problem was the billing. I’d booked two nights, then added a night earlier after finding what I thought was the Hampton number online. It turned out to be a third party, and I booked for $312. At the hotel, the desk agent found the reservation and charged me $226. She said I’d need to check out and back in the next morning, which was fine. That evening I saw charges for both $299 and $226 on my card. The next morning, another desk agent said it was a third-party booking and the first agent shouldn’t have charged me again. She refunded the $226. I still don’t understand why the first agent didn’t see that I’d already paid, when the next one did.

The room was clean and pleasant, with a comfortable bed, a big bathtub, and a smart TV. Breakfast was better than most hotel breakfasts I’ve had, but one morning my partner and I felt so uncomfortable with the front desk woman staring at us that we took our food back to the room. The service otherwise was just OK. We stayed three nights and had to use a nearby laundromat because there’s no washer or dryer here. I also wished there were a hot tub; there’s only a pool. Construction at the front entrance woke me up on several mornings, and the entrance stayed blocked for much of the day, so guests had to use the side door. Its handle fell off when I pushed it, so hopefully they’ve fixed that.

The night before a Bills game, even with the hotel busy, the staff were lovely. The cleaning team greeted me warmly in the second-floor halls, and the man looking after breakfast kept the area spotless. Maureen at the front desk was the standout, giving wonderful service and representing Hampton so well. Thanks to everyone, and Go Bills!!

The room was fairly standard, but the bathroom had some nice, modern features. Overall, a nice hotel.
