Orcas Blue Heron

Boogie seemed ready to move in by the time we left. The fenced yard gave her room to play and do her business, and the hosts even let her up on the couch. They clearly welcome dogs. We also loved the breakfast, the view, and the dock, and the hospitality was top-notch. We got back from Blue Heron last night after a great stay. A really good choice if you're traveling with a dog.

The island is a gem, and the Blue Heron B&B is one of our favorite places to stay. We've been back several times and loved each visit. It's right on the water, close to downtown but tucked far enough away to feel quieter, and not far from the ferry dock. We've recommended it to plenty of friends and plan to return.

The Pelican room has its own bathroom, and the bed and pillows were incredibly comfortable. Check-in was quick and easy, too. The house is lovely, with lots of cute little touches that made my stay special. I did miss the traditional B&B breakfast, though it seems many places don't offer one anymore. Sad, but I guess that's how it is these days. Still, I'd recommend it.

Kate was a wonderful host, and I also met Abe. We stayed in the Walrus room with our medium-sized dog. It's the smallest room in the B&B, just as the listing said, but it suited us perfectly. The fenced side yard was handy for the dog. Booking through another service meant dealing with an app and an iPhone or similar device, which was a bit complicated, though having different booking options seems common now. The view looks across the street to the marina, and the dock is just a few seconds away on foot. There were little fish all through the water and a couple of seals. I also really liked the artwork throughout the house. Kate is a talented artist, and Abe mentioned he enjoys photography, so maybe there'll be more to see next time. Breakfast was simple, as advertised, and fine. There was a small coffee pot upstairs, which was a lifesaver for the short crawl from our room to get the caffeine needed before heading down to breakfast, where there was more coffee.
