The room was clean and good, though not excellent. The housekeeper even folded the toilet paper into little flowers, which I loved. I left a nice tip. See you next time!

The main reason I'd come back is the bed. It was a Sealy Posturpedic, softer than I'm used to, with big fluffy pillows and a warm comforter. It felt like sleeping on a cloud, better than my bed at home. The high-backed recliner was comfortable too, and there was plenty of hot water for showers. The room looked very clean at check-in. The desk clerks, day and night, were pleasant, and cookies at the front desk each evening were a nice touch if you don't avoid sugar. The interior, though, is old and dated. The carpets are tattered and threadbare, and with the yellowish walls they make the hallways and room feel dingy. The bathroom also felt gloomy, with a scarred, yellowed tub and a cabinet with chipped paint. I'd love to see walk-in showers. There aren't modern plugs for phones, tablets, or laptops, so bring your own chargers. The TV uses Roku like ours at home, but all we got were error messages. We couldn't get the channels working and there were no instructions. Since we were mostly there at bedtime and early morning, it wasn't a big issue. We stayed 4 nights and my husband stayed 6. There's no daily housekeeping unless you request a “refresh,” and the bathroom has just one tiny trash can. That may be more sustainable, but it's good to know for a longer stay. We were there in winter, with snow and ice, and the path to the parking lot didn't seem shoveled or sanded enough. There was some salt by the doors, but it wasn't adequate. We're seniors, and walking out there felt treacherous and hazardous. We got hot showers and a good night's sleep, and it was relatively quiet. The beds made the stay worthwhile, but the hotel felt pricey for what it offers. We were in Springfield to visit family, didn't spend much time there, and didn't use the kitchenette. For an old blue collar small city, I think it's overpriced, though the local hotel market seems overpriced in general.

I was surprised to find a kitchen in the room, with a sink and a small stovetop. The bathrooms were spacious and the rooms were nice, even though I'd have shortened the bathroom dividing wall by 8-12 inches to give the beds more space apart. The hallways, though, need a remodel.

Things were okay until I was accused of smoking in my room and charged a 200 dollar fee. I tried to dispute it, but they took my money anyway, even though their camera shows me smoking outside in the designated gazebo. I won't stay here again.
