Relax Inn Cape Cod

The one good thing was the convenient location. My husband and I come to the Cape every year, but we'll never book this place again. It was the dirtiest room I've ever stayed in, and I wouldn't bring children here. We arrived Fourth of July weekend for our anniversary. The room wasn't cheap, and the stay was deeply disappointing. There was an empty drug bag on the floor when we entered. I didn't complain at the time because we expected to spend little time in the room and it was just the two of us, though I probably should have. I don't like writing bad reviews, and the owners were pleasant. But I used to work Front Desk at a hotel, so I know how a room should be operated and maintained. I couldn't believe the condition of this one.

The owner was nice and involved in the renovations he and his crew were doing. He got us whatever we needed, from bedding and pillows to toilet paper, and fixed the AC when it froze over. We were there during the massive June heat wave, so that mattered. The room stayed clean and comfortable, with enough space for our family of five. It was the size we expected and just what we needed, though the layout was a little odd: the TV was across the room instead of facing two beds, making it awkward to watch from my bed. Not a huge deal. The parking lot was scattered with rugs on the first day, but they'd been cleared away the next. Parking was somewhat difficult, though we always found a spot. Renovations seemed to be underway in many rooms. The shower was just okay, and getting a comfortable temperature and keeping it there was hit or miss. The room wasn't very updated. The pool was warm but refreshing. Check-out felt strange: I'm used to handing in key cards at the desk, but they told us to put them in a box outside the front door. All in all, it was a nice stay. We're not too picky, as long as the room is clean.

The owner is a pretty nice guy. The rooms are older, but this place costs less than the big commercial hotels on Cape Cod. If you're on a budget, I recommend it.

The location was the only good thing. The room was awful: the toilet kept running, only one wall outlet worked for plugging things in, and the Wi-Fi was terrible. This was the worst place I've ever stayed, and I won't be returning to Cape Cod or this hotel.
